SOCIETY NEWS

As part of its scholarship program, the Society has provided keyboards and lessons for young children at Shiloh Baptist Church in the Parramore area, Boy's Town, Midway Middle School and Harvest Baptist Church. Officials presiding at Steinway giftings in the past year include Mayor Dyer, Congressman John Mica, Seminole County Commissioner Bob Dallari, Kathleen Gordon, member of the Orange County School Board, Lucille O'Neal and Nick Anderson and The Orlando Magic Youth Foundation.

The Society was recently presented a $10,000 grant check from Disney World along with the "Mickey" oscar. Other grants received are: City of Orlando Mayors Matching grant of $9,000; United Arts of Central Florida $5,450; Orlando Magic Youth Foundation $3,000; Seminole County Arts Council $2,000; Miller Charitable Foundation $1,000; Central Florida Music Teachers Association $2,278; State of Florida Division of Cultural Affairs $25,000; and Target $2,000.

December Piano Gifting

A visit by Santa and musical performances by Orlando-area singers Jacqueline Jones and Kathy Puzzo with music by Michael Kramer and Michael Lamy highlighted the Steinway Society of Central Florida’s holiday concert and piano gifting Sunday, December 11 at Steinway Piano Galleries. The event was hosted by Bob Frier, news anchor of FOX 35 and Society founders Gary and Kathy Grimes.
